The Veterans Golf Course is a non-profit course whose primary purpose is to provide a golf facility for Veterans receiving care at the Tomah VA. Funds generated from public play and donations provide the means to operate and maintain the course. For over 10 years, the golf course is not maintained by the VA Medical Center. In order to keep the golf course available for hospitalized Veterans to use, the facility relies on public support.
The Veterans’ Golf Course pro shop is operated by VA volunteers.
The Veterans’ Golf Course is a family-friendly course, featuring nine-holes and a par-36 layout. There is a pro shop, a pavilion with picnic tables, snacks and drinks for sale, and restrooms.
The course is open from sunup to sundown, weather permitting. When the flags are on the greens, the course is open for play.
Golfers who arrive when the pro shop is not open are asked to abide by the “honor system” and deposit their green fee in the “honor box” located at the starter building.
Course fees for the general public are $9 for a nine-hole round; $10 on weekends and holidays. Senior citizens, active duty military and students receive a special rate of $7 on both weekdays and weekends for nine holes. An 18-hole round will cost $16 ($17 on weekends and holidays), and the special rate for seniors, active duty military and students is $10 (weekdays and weekends).
