Uphill Vineyards

Our wine journey has been a long one, but became serious in 2007, when our vineyard was planted in Fiddletown, California. We did not know then how many challenges we would face and overcome in the subsequent years. Our name, Uphill Vineyards, describes not only the topography of our site, but also the journey we have been on.

We still believe that wine – good, bad or great – is first made in the vineyard, then by the winemaker. Our philosophy always has been to grow the best fruit we could and let it reveal the properties of the vineyard – soil, high elevation, climate, and sunlight. We do not force our wines to be a certain way and so each vintage tells the tale of the growing year. We also age our wines longer than most wineries and release them only when we think they are ready to share.
