The Mission of the UGA Department of Theatre and Film Studies is: To develop leaders in theatre, film and new media practice and scholarship.To create works of theatre, performance and media that educate our students, enrich the cultural life of our community, and sustain a regional and national reputation for excellence and innovation.

To conjoin tradition and experimentation, old technologies and new, theory and practice.To lead in the exploration of new dramatic forms and new stage and media technologies.To nurture socially engaged scholars, artists and audiences.To build bridges between disciplines, both within and outside our department.

To foster a community of faculty and students that celebrates and reflects the diversity of world theatre, cinema and new media.To provide opportunities for students and faculty to cultivate their individual talents and realize their unique visions.
