Tygart Lake is a flood control lake protecting areas from West Virginia to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. During the summer months the lake is held at a relatively normal water level. Between mid-September and April, the lake is drawn down in anticipation of heavier precipitation.
Tygart Lake Lodge sleeping rooms and full-service restaurant is open year-round. The vacation cabins are open mid-April through December 31. The campground is open from mid-April until late autumn.
