About Us:

Described by one Tripadvisor review as "a destination in itself", Twirl is situated in a rambling 150-year-old Adobe building in the heart of historical Taos. Once inhabited by famous Taosenos Dennis Hopper and Agnes Martin, architectural and artistic treasures are hidden throughout this incredible property including fishpond, wishing well, secret staircase with dragons and snakes, and Ali Baba fireplace.

The toy store consists of four colorful rooms full of toys and games and upstairs there is a beautiful domed-shape room where music and dance classes take place. Outside there are two courtyards: a small grassy one with two hand-crafted timber play installations, oversize musical instruments, and crazy mirrors, and a larger one, with a Play Smart climbing structure, rocky fountain for paddling, and a paved area for playing outdoor games and skooting about on the ride-ons and Easy Rollers.

In the past, the property has been home to a collection of art galleries, a deli, a dentist, and a spiritual retreat amongst other businesses. Few would argue however that it has found its most natural role as the magical setting for Twirl Toy Store and Play Space. Says founder Amy Wyss, "I've lost track of the number of people who come in and say, ‘Wow. This is the coolest toy store I've ever seen. "If it were a seven year old saying this, I'd probably put it down to childish exuberance. When it's the forty-five year old parent of that child, you know you're on to something."
