Fleury Family Speedway/Claremont Speedway/Twin State Speedway - started in 1947 by Arthur Fleury and Father of current owner Dennis Fleury.  Arthur returned from Active duty with the Army in Texas with the idea to start a race track.  The track was his fathers farmland, or should we say his potato patch.  As the racing grew and he didn't have the time needed to devote to it, a group of racers started a club called the Jalopy Association consisting of Remy Gendron, Harold Foisy, Isador Fleury, Dave Harris and Walt Ruffle.  The track was a dirt track.  In the mid 1960's Sonny Fleury, Arthur's brother took over the track and ran it from the mid 1960's to 1980.  IN 1980 CODA (Claremont Owners Drivers Association) was formed and ran the track up to 1985, at that time it was turned back over to Sonny, which he continued to run the track.  In the early 1970's Sonny paved the track and ran it up to his death in 1993.  After his death his daughter Sherrie Fleury and her husband James Laneau ran it up to April 2004 when it was purchased by Dennis Fleury, nephew to Sonny Fleury, and son of Arthur Fleury.  Dennis purchased the track with only one thing on his mind--to make the short track racing in Claremont a place to be at.  In 2005 the track was named in the area as one of the "Top 10 Sports Stories in 2005" as listed in the Eagle Times and Twin State Valley area.  The 2012 Racing Season is taking shape to be one for the record books. With large weekly payouts and a growing points fund, Twin State Speedway is on the schedule of many area race teams.  History Facts:  This race track was one of Ken Squires first announcing jobs, he was just a kid at the time and brought a tape to Arthur Fleury to listen to, to promote his acquired position as announcer.  The race track produced a NASCAR Grand Champion 2002 in Peter Daniels.  Twin State Speedway is a 1/3 mile semi-banked asphalt oval.  The front stretch and backstretch are both 50' wide with walls surrounding nearly the entire perimeter.  Each turn is banked between 8 and 10 degrees.  The Speedway is nestled in the woods off of Thrasher Road in Claremont, New Hampshire.  Weekly racing begins at 6 p.m. on Saturdays.  Our facility features six weekly divisions sponsored by LaValley Building Supply.  These seven classes include the Late Models, Super Stocks, Limited Sportsman, Modifieds, Wild Cats,  and Redneck Enduros.
