The True North Ale Company is located on Boston’s North Shore in historic Ipswich, Massachusetts. The word “True” of True North Ales has special meaning to us and reflects our core values of integrity and honesty in all that we do. “North” refers to Boston’s North Shore, our home. And “True North” reflects the nautical and maritime heritage of Ipswich and the surrounding communities.
Newly built and opened in the autumn of 2017 by the father and son team of Gary and Jake Rogers, the brewery boasts a 15,000+ square foot facility with state-of-the-art brewing equipment, a high-speed canning line, and on-site taproom, patio, and events space. Our Taproom offers a welcoming environment to thirsty locals and out-of-town visitors, and a gathering place for business and community groups. Opened in the spring of 2019, The North Side event space is available for large and small group gatherings ranging from fundraisers to corporate meetings to weddings.
The True North Ale Company is proud to produce our beers on both a 30 barrel (bbl) production brewhouse and a 5 bbl pilot brewhouse. We fill 120 bbl, 60 bbl, 30 bbl, and 10 bbl fermentation and conditioning vessels with core brands and taproom-only beers. The high-speed counter-pressure fill canning line will package up to 100 cans per minute. Our facility has an expected brewing capacity approaching 15,000 bbl annually.
True North Ales has earned major accolades each of the past five years. Our Vincianne Belgian Blonde Ale won the Gold Award at the 2018 World Beer Cup, Gold Medals at the 2022 and 2019 North American Brewers Association International Competition (NABA), and a Silver Medal at the 2021 NABA. Our Cerveza Mexican Lager earned a Gold Medal at the 2021 Great American Beer Fest (GABF) as well as Silver Medals at the 2022 Best of Craft Beer Awards, 2021 NABA, the 2020 GABF, and the 2018 New York International Beer Competition, where we were named Massachusetts Lager Brewery of the Year. Our flagship Northern Haze Juicy IPA won a Bronze Medal at the 2021 GABF and a Silver Medal at the 2019 NABA. Other of our specialty beers won Gold (2) and Bronze Medals (5) at the past three NABA competitions.
