In the lead-up to our grand opening in 2015, I had been reminiscing about how my family and I got to the place where I could finally achieve my life-long dream of opening a restaurant. I'm proud to bring the influence of both my parents' Polish heritage to our menu and I still find myself reminiscing about them a lot amidst the chaos of small business ownership-- I would like to share with you an experience I had before opening.
We finally reached the moment we had been waiting for: the walnut table tops came in and my job was to go get the proper screws for installation. I went to Chalfont hardware store but for the first time they didn't have the ones I needed, so I headed for Home Depot. As I was driving I remembered I had a large jar of screws in the garage that I had sentimentally taken from my childhood home when I lost my dad. I made a u-turn, grabbed the screws, and went back to the restaurant to see if any of them would fit the bar top. Sure enough, I found screws that were the exact size needed to secure the tables. It's nice to know that my dad will be in the restaurant holding things in place.
