About Us:

This beautiful park features an exciting aquatic complex with something to appeal to everyone. There’s a spray playground for kids of all ages, in-pool basketball and volleyball for some cool competition, lap lanes for getting in a daily swim workout, and of course, the signature “lazy river” that inspired the re-naming of this fabulous destination as “The Brook.”

But traditionalists take heart - the classic, Tudor-revival style bathhouse still stands majestically at the head of the center and the two pavilions at each end of the pool area have been restored to maintain the vintage look. Enjoy the view from our new in-pool benches or find a cool, shady spot under a tree.

Tibbetts Brook Park is one of the first parks developed by Westchester County. This 161-acre park offers many recreational activities throughout the year and hosts ethnic celebrations, fairs and festivals during the summer months.

The first large-scale recreational development by the county, this property was named for George Tippet, a local pioneer settler during the colonial period. Because his descendants were royalists during the Revolution, the property was confiscated and sold by the state.

The low grounds along the western branch of Tibbetts Brook had once been used by the city of Yonkers as a refuse dump, which polluted the water. The swimming pool at Tibbetts was constructed because children were swimming in the brook.

The park is now seen as a refuge from urban living, an oasis of green surrounded by the city. It offers woodlands, lakes, playing fields, playgrounds and a swimming complex and includes a major activities lawn that hosts various events.
