The Museum:

The Texas Highway Patrol Museum is located in the Historic King William district of San Antonio. We are located just a few blocks from the Alamo and the vibrant Riverwalk where you can find great food, shopping and more.

History:

The Texas Highway Patrol Museum opened the doors to the public in 1992. The museum has several exhibits and honors the Texas DPS Troopers who protect and serve the great state of Texas.

We also give special respect and honor to those troopers who lost their lives in the line of duty - by giving these men and women a special dedicated hall in our museum dedicated to their service and sacrifices. Here you will find charcoal drawings, by a local artist, and a brief summary of when and how they died. Personal momentos are often left by family or friends of the trooper.

The Texas Highay Patrol Musem also has several permanant exhibits on display, ranging from artifacts, pictures of Bonnie and Clyde, to a floor-to-ceiling mural of Texas Department of Public Safety troopers from across the state and spanning several years.

The Museum, has also developed a variety of youth programs and won an award for its drunk driving awareness program called "Cruisin' to Coffins."

Future Goals:

The museum has grand goals to continue supporting the troopers of Texas, and in the near future, we are planning on expanding our footprint - with more space, parking, more programs and bringing in several new exhibits. (We have two antique DPS cars we want the public to enjoy and look forward to our second grand opening of the Texas Highway Patrol Museum.)
