Lake Howard is a 150 acre water shed that is part of our city’s water supply. Fishing is allowed by permit, there is wet storage for boats, and picnic pavilions are available for rental. Canoeing and kayaking are also permitted; however, swimming is not allowed. Lake Howard is also the home of the Sylaward Trail, which is a 14+ mile hiking and mountain bike trail. This trail has been rated as one of the best trails in Alabama.
