Lanza was born in 1881 in the small village of Valledolmo Sicily. In 1893 he immigrated to New York at the age of 12. In 1902 at the age of 21 Horace & his brother began the family's first winery. Later, in 1911 Horace moved the family business from New York to Northern California. While in Northern California (San Francisco) he established "California Grape Products". From there, he expanded the operation to the Southern San Joaquin Valley. In the San Joaquin Valley he established "California Grape Products" This business encompassed everything from starting a vineyard to creating wines. Horace Lanza was able to bring the business through the Great Depression & established it as one of the premiere wineries of its time. The Bree family is proud to carry on his tradition.
