Summa Barberton Hospital is a full member of Summa Health System and is located approximately 10 miles southwest of Akron, Ohio. The hospital has served citizens of Barberton and the surrounding areas since its founding in 1915. Summa Barberton Hospital offers a variety of cutting edge healthcare services, and has undergone major renovations and upgrades to meet the growing needs of the Barberton community.

In 2013, the hospital opened a new emergency department and increased its original facility space to 32,000 sq. ft. and 46 patient areas. The hospital also established several new programs for the geriatric population, adding an Acute Care for Elders unit, and Acute Palliative Care Unit and inpatient consults for geriatric assessments.

Also in 2013, Summa Barberton Hospital successfully underwent a rigorous review by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC) to meet a specific set of quality care criteria for the treatment of cardiac patients. The hospital is designated as an accredited Chest Pain Center by the SCPC, recognizing that Summa Barberton Hospital meets or exceeds quality of care measures for those who are experiencing symptoms of heart attack.

Summa Barberton Hospital includes a family medicine residency program and is a teaching hospital affiliated with the Northeast Ohio Medical University. More than 1,200 individuals and 400 medical staff provide extraordinary, compassionate care to patients and family members who seek medical care at this facility.
