This state boat ramp is 3/4 mile south of Narragansett Beach. Parking is limited and fills up quickly with fisherman on the weekends.
The ramp is concrete, but there is a steep drop off at the end of the ramp making it problematic for trailered boats, especially at low tide. The small sandy beach between the ramp and the pier is good for launching kayaks.
Once on the water here you are on the open waters of Rhode Island Sound, with nothing but open ocean between you and South America! You can head north along the shore towards Narragansett Beach and the entrance to the Narrow River beyond, or south towards Point Judith. Going in either direction you should expect strong winds and large waves. The area at the mouth of the Narrow River is often particularly rough.
