Spring Hills Farm

North Abbington Township, PA 18414

Spring Hills farm has been part of the working landscape of northeastern Pennsylvania for well over a century. Since 1945 it has been home to the Hull family who, for three generations have cared for its open, rolling hills and its hardwood forest punctuated by meandering stone walls. The Hulls raised sheep on the farm in the early years, and more recently have devoted most of the open land to Christmas trees. Under the management of Margaret Hull, Spring Hills has been certified as an organic farm. No chemical pesticides or fertilizers have been used on the farm for more than 20 years. Through the Nature Conservancy and agricultural easement programs, more than 200 acres of the farm have been reserved as permanent agricultural and forest land.

The result is a place of great peace and beauty that begs to be explored on its miles of walking trails. The farm has become home for many species of wildlife and birds. Red-tailed Hawks, Great Blue Herons, Pileated Woodpeckers and a wide variety of ducks inhabit the woods and ponds. Hummingbirds and butterflies abound. Watch out for the Mad Grouse as you walk along the trail to the Big Woods. See if you can spot a rabbit as you stroll along the hedgerow at the top of Louise's Walk. Step lightly as you make your way along Quarry Run and you might catch a glimpse of a wood owl secluded in his forest stronghold.
