Southern Ute Museum And Cultural Center

14826 Highway 172
Ignacio, CO 81137

The Mission of the Southern Ute Cultural Center and Museum is to be the principle repository conservator and interpretor of our tribe's history, our people, our stories, our culture and it's artifacts. We do this first, for the Southern Ute tribe and second, for the rest of the world in order to insure that our people's stories will always be told and remembered. In programs and exhibitions, our mission is to accurately and vividly portray and preserve Southern Ute history, culture and tradition.

As part of our mission, the Southern Ute cultural center and museum also conserves and promotes the entirety of Southern Ute history and culture by evolving tribal members as living history resources and educators for the tribe and the world. We are dedicated to educating our Southern Ute community and the greater Ignacio and Durango community in ways that foster a positive social, cultural and economic interaction and understanding between all people regardless of ethnicity, race, religion or class.
