Southern Star Brewing Company

Located in Conroe, Texas, Southern Star Brewing Company was founded in July 2007. Southern Star was the first Craft Brewery in the great state of Texas to provide canned craft beers to consumer from our 10,000 square foot warehouse. We currently have 11 employees; 10 from Texas and one we shipped in from San Francisco.

Production began in March of 2008 with our signature beer of Pine Belt Pale Ale, which is distributed in 16-ounce cans. This has expanded to now include our Bombshell Blonde (an American Blonde ale style) and our Buried Hatchet Stout (Strong American Stout style), which are both packaged in 12-ounce cans along with kegs with all our beers. We now are offering 6 Seasonal Beers a different one every two months in 12-ounce seasonal cans and kegs.

One of our annual seasonal offerings, which changes every year, is our Pro-AM offering. Home brewers submit their favorite homebrews and we do an in-house judging where the winning recipe will be scaled up to production size and brewed on our system with their help. Since our first competition it has been a great success. Our first Pro-AM winner, was a Saison style ('08), others include a Smoked Porter ('09), Cascadian Dark Ale ('10), and a Double IPA ('11).  What's next is up to the skill of the areas finest hombrewers.
