Highlighting Manhattan

Skirball Center for the Performing Arts

566 LaGuardia Place
New York, NY 10012

Mission:

The programs of the Skirball Center reflect NYU's mission to be an international center of scholarship, defined by excellence and innovation and shaped by an intellectually rich and diverse environment. At the same time, the Center provides a unique venue for enhancing a sense of community while showcasing cultural and performing arts events at NYU and in lower Manhattan.

This 860-seat theater is the setting for our multi-arts, professional presenting program in Manhattan, which is also university based. As a result, a natural and vital aspect of the Center's mission is to build young adult audiences for the future of live performance by inspiring the NYU student population with the contemporary relevance of the performing arts.

The Center, like the city it calls home, thrives from melting-pot ideas and sensibilities. Student productions, university events, artistic premieres, re-energized classics, popular music, comedy and riveting dialogues with the world's great thinkers make up only a sample of what one might find at NYU Skirball Center.
