Maker Faires are a hands-on approach to getting the community interested in STEM/STEAM while having fun. Sci-Port will partner with Shreve Memorial Library, the R.W. Norton Art Gallery, and Centenary College of Louisiana to host the Second Annual Shreveport Mini Maker Faire. Maker Faires are licensed by Maker Faire Global and are part of the Do-it-yourself (DIY) and Do-it-with-others (DIWO) Maker Movement. Tech enthusiasts, scientists, students, teachers, engineers, crafters and hackers will demonstrate their prototypes and other creations at the Mini Maker Faire, as part of the movement to make America great again by empowering individuals to think critically, collaborate, and problem-solve, instead of being passive consumers in a throw away society. Makers young and old are encouraged to become entrepreneurs and market their creations.
