Welcome to Shattuck Windmill Museum & Park. When you visit us here in northwest Oklahoma you will find 45 vintage windmills and one wind generator on a 4 acre site at the junction of Highways 283 and 15. Because so many settlers in this area could find no trees for lumber, many lived in dugouts for a year or two. So we have reconstructed a half-dugout of local caliche rock with a sod roof which is furnished as it might have been in 1900. Later when the railroad came though and lumber became available, the family may have built a story-and-a-half farmhouse much like the one that has been moved to the Park from 4 miles south of town. A false-fronted mercantile will soon be open for business as a type of the early stores in the small bustling town.
