African Americans in the Sandhills region of North Carolina have a long tradition of economic self-sufficiency that is tied to the land. SFHA has rekindled that entrepreneurial spirit by promoting community-based economics. The Sandhills Farmers & Heritage Market provides an affordable and efficient market place for underserved, limited-resource landowners, farmers, and hand-crafters to sell their products and goods. Our goal is to give back to our community by providing fresh produce and natural products to low-income neighborhoods while supporting our local farmers and entrepreneurs.
At the Sandhills Farmers Market you can enjoy a cultivating market experience like no other! Hear stories about our farm heritage at Cumberland County’s only farmers market that links history and culture with some of the areas highest quality fruits, vegetables, and specialty food items. Get to know the growers who provide tasty, healthy, locally grown food. You can even pull up a chair and sit a spell!
Thanks to the generosity of RAFI-USA, The Conservation Fund, Z.Smith Reynolds Foundation, and the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust, we are able to offer the Farm Fresh and Healthy Pilot Program Fresh Bucks tokens. SNAP/EBT customers can earn Fresh Bucks tokens to double their buying power when purchasing fresh fruits and vegetables.
