Saint William Catholic Church

Saint William Catholic Church has been servicing the needs of Catholics in Marshall County from our downtown Guntersville, Alabama location since 1949.  The early pre-parish organization was a mission outreach from nearby Saint James parish of Gadsden, AL.  The early Catholics in Marshall County met for Mass and other celebrations  in an office building in Guntersville.  In 1959, the Diocese of Birmingham created Saint William parish, and a sanctuary was erected on the present site in the center of Guntersville.

To meet the growing need of our parishioners in southern Marshall County, in 2007 Saint William erected a Life Center and chapel (Chapel of the Holy Cross) at 1534 Whitesville Road in nearby Albertville. Phases One and Two, which are now completed, includes the Life Center featuring office space, meeting facilities and a 700-seat chapel. Additional phases will be developed over the course of the next several years.
