Roosevelt State Park conveniently located between Meridian and Jackson, Mississippi. Roosevelt State Park offers an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities in a picturesque setting. The park's scenic overlook provides a panoramic view of the Bienville National Forest. The gently sloping landscape is particularly striking during the fall when the forest is bright with autumn colors.
Camping and Lodging
There are several options when it comes to staying overnight. The park offers 109 RV campsites, primitive tent sites, 15 vacation cabins, motel, and a group camp facility. These facilities are located in wooded areas with views of Shadow Lake.
Thing to Do
A variety of recreational activities and facilities are available at Roosevelt State Park. Facilities for use include: visitor center, banquet hall, meeting rooms, game room, performing arts & media center, picnic area, picnic pavilions, playgrounds, disc golf, softball field, swimming pool and water slide, tennis courts, and nature trails. Fishing, boating, and water skiing are available on Shadow Lake, a 150 acre fresh water lake.
Picnic Area and Pavilions
20 picnic sites complete with grills are located throughout the park and many have beautiful lakeside views.
Five pavilions with picnic tables are available for reservations. Water, electricity, and a barbeque grill are provided at each pavilion. These are great facilities for group outings, family reunions, and company picnics.
Pavilion #1 is located adjacent to the swimming pool facility.
Pavilion #2 is located in the day use area with views of Shadow Lake. Pavilion #2 is designated as handicap accessible and is the second closest pavilion to the swimming pool facility.
Pavilion #3 is located in the day use area with views of Shadow Lake.
Pavilion #4 is located in the day use area near the fishing pier and playground.
Pavilion #5 is located adjacent to the Alfreda - Harris Lodge.
Fishing Pier
A fishing pier is available in the day use picnic area.
Playground
A playground is located under the canopy of large trees.
Nature Trails
Nature trails wind throughout the park. You can experience six unique trails totaling approximately 4.8 miles. The trails not only connect different areas of the park, but also provides exploration of the woods and unobstructed views of native trees, flowers, and wildlife.
Lakeview Trail - .4 mile (White)
Muscadine Trail - .5 mile (Red)
Rolling Hill Trail - .3 mile (Gold)
Pinelane - .4 mile (Light Blue)
Civil War Hill Trail - 2 miles (Blue)
Beaver Dam Trail 1.2 miles
Disc Golf
Moccasin Bend Disc Golf Course is an 18 hole course that meanders across open terrain and through the wooded areas of the park. The course offers a variety of shots. The Disc Golf course is open to the public, free of charge; however, the normal park entrance fee is required.
Softball and Tennis
Softball Field
A lighted softball field is available by reservation. The field is located across from the Alfreda - Harris Lodge. Plenty of parking and park amenities make it a great place for tournament play.
Tennis Courts
Two lighted tennis courts are available for day or night play. The courts are located across from the Alfreda- Harris Lodge. A fee is charged to use the tennis courts.
Swimming Pool and Water Slide
The swimming pool facility features a 2,600 square foot pool overlooking Shadow Lake. The pool ranges in depth from three feet to five feet six inches. A zero depth splash pad with six water jets is provided for young children on the pool deck. Restrooms and changing areas are provided.
Adjacent to the swimming pool is a water slide with a landing pool. The water slide features five twisting turns beginning at a height of 36 feet above the landing pool.
The swimming pool and water slide opens Memorial Day weekend for the summer season and closes after Labor Day weekend. Once school starts in August, the pool is only open on weekends.

Picnic pavilions and picnic tables are located near the swimming pool facility and the Alfreda - Harris Lodge is only a short distance away on a paved walkway through the woods.
Fishing and Boating
Fishing
Year round fishing is permitted. The lake is stocked with bass, crappie, bream, and catfish. Shadow Lake is checked yearly by biologists for restocking needs. Fertilization and other enhancements to the lake are also performed yearly as deemed necessary by department biologists.
Boating
A boat launch and paved trailer parking area is located at the southeast end of the lake. A nominal fee is required for use of the boat launch. Daily or annual permits are available.
