The Robert H. Johnson Planetarium is owned and operated by the Jeffco Public School District. The planetarium was constructed in 1963 with a grant from the National Science Foundation as part of an effort to boost science education and awareness in students. Approximately 40,000 students attend the planetarium each year. To date an estimated 1.4 million students have attended the planetarium. The planetarium works closely with the district's science and social studies teams to develop programs that meet district curriculum goals.
