About Us:

What started as social gatherings among young men in the 1940s grew into the Decatur Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees). In September 1946, Calvin Pettey and more than 100 other charter members gathered with their wives and guests and were presented with the chapter's charter. Over the years, the Jaycees have supported numerous community events and even raised the funds to build the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce on Sixth Avenue.

Although the dynamics of the group have changed since its origination, the work done by the Decatur Jaycees is no less important to the community today than it was over 60 years ago. With a current membership of over 30 local young professionals, it is a commitment to community service that makes serving as a Jaycees so rewarding.
