River View Vineyard and Winery

River View Vineyard & Winery is nestled in the scenic Minnesota bluffs above the beautiful winding Mississippi River Valley. Our small country winery, which opened to the public in 2011, produces a variety of native blends of wine from choice select cold-climate grapes. We offer a variety of wines - reds, whites and blushes, so there's something for every palate. Close to nature, yet a short ride from La Crosse, Wisconsin, we offer a relaxing, memorable experience. Enjoy breathtaking views and take home delicious locally produced wines.

Our vineyard was started in 2003 using cold-hardy grapes developed for our region by grape breeding pioneers Elmer Swenson and the University of Minnesota. After several years of perfecting the wine, River View Vineyard & Winery opened in the fall of 2011. Growing grapes in the La Crescent area, long known as the Apple Capital of Minnesota, is exciting and we have planted over 1,000 vines since 2003.

River View Vineyard & Winery is located in the Upper Mississippi River Valley American Viticulture Area (AVA), established by the U.S. Government in June 2009. The AVA is the largest in the US and includes the driftless or blufflands regions of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois. This AVA designation permits wine produced exclusively from cold-hardy grapes grown in our vineyards be labeled "Estate Grown" wines.
