Rio Colorado Golf Course is a hidden jewel designed by World Golf Hall of Fame member Gary Player. Built in 1983, this picturesque public course is carved around the beautiful Colorado River and surrounding wetlands. Rio Colorado offers an exciting round to golfers of all skill levels with yardages ranging from just over 5,000 all the way to the championship tees which play to a challenging 6855 yards.

Located just minutes from the hustle and bustle of Houston, Rio Colorado offers quality golf in a relaxed atmosphere of the riverside forests and praires of Matagorda County.

The front nine is a skillfully sculpted, prairie links design, with holes playing from every direction to ensure the Texas coastal winds will play a significant role in your game. Fairway and greenside bunkers abound and water hazards accented by native coastal grasses and vegetation loom around every corner.

The back 9 starts off with the first 3 holes maintaining the prarie links design, then the course moves towards the bluffs overlooking the Colorado River. Our signature hole, #14, runs right along the scenic bluff of the Colorado River offering a watery grave to stray tee shots. Along the way you will pass through a forest of oaks and cottonwoods and navigate through some beautiful Texas wetlands and don't be suprised to spot plenty of wildlife including deer, ducks, rabbits, cranes, hawks and alligators.

Rio Colorado is a great golf course featuring a friendly and courteous staff, a fun challenging layout, and the fresh air of the Texas coast! Call and book your tee time today!
