About Us:

Richard Arrington Middle School is named after Birmingham’s first African American Mayor it is located at 2101 Jefferson Ave. in the heart of the West End community. We are an educational institution dedicated to academic excellence. We offer a wide variety in data- driven instruction, Pre-AP courses, a motivated staff of “Highly Qualified” teachers and a thriving athletic program. Here at AMS we believe in educating the whole child, through various programs such as: character education, band, Student Government Association, National Junior Honor Society and boys and girls mentoring.

Mission:

The mission of Arrington Middle School, is to develop self-assured students who are well equipped to be College and Career Ready by proving a perceptive, dedicated and professional staff which affords students optimal opportunity to develop and use their abilities in an environment and encompasses a varied intellectually rigorous curriculum oriented toward respond to the needs of each child.
