Quig's Maplewood Golf Course

Quig's Maplewood Golf Course is a family owned and operated 9-hole golf course nestled in Wisconsin's North Woods. We are open to the public and located right on Highway 55 in quiet "downtown" Pickerel, right next door to the Pickerel post office.

The Quig family has had Maplewood since 2005, and since then the course has seen a continuous stream of improvements from the new deck area at the clubhouse, to the addition of shelters at the #5 tee and by the #2 green /#6 tee, to the redesigned tee boxes on #4, #7, and #8. We also added the bunker on #2 to make play just a little more interesting, and scattered hundreds of new trees around the course to give the course a cozier feel and help shield nearby holes from errant balls.

A few years ago we also replaced the old diesel irrigation pump with a more efficient electric model and brought the irrigation system into the 21st century by replacing the old sprinkler heads, which had to be manually installed into ports hidden beneath the grass, with new high-efficiency irrigation heads that are digitally controlled from a central station. All this means that the course now has significantly better irrigation coverage with less water, no more early mornings spent baby-sitting a fickle old diesel pump, and no more carrying a cart load of portable irrigation heads around the course at 3am.

New in 2013, Amy and Alan completely re-thought the layout of the bar & restaurant area, including designing and building a new bar! The new layout makes much better use of available space while adding 14 new seats.
