Our Mission:

The Medical Care Mission exists to provide, in a Christian setting, quality health care to persons in the Abilene area.

About the Mission:

Although the Mission was established by the Presbyterian Church, it is an ecumenical ministry that receives widespread support throughout the community from a variety of faith congregations, community organizations and individuals. From the beginning, the board believed the Mission should be a collective, community solution to a growing national problem, and it has been.

Some of our most important supporters are the 100 people who enable the Mission to operate efficiently by providing volunteer services. They perform all clerical and bookkeeping chores, answer the phone, schedule appointments, update patient charts and handle receptionist duties. Accomplishing these varied tasks requires 60 volunteers every week, and these generous people put in over 20,000 hours of their time each year, saving the Mission an estimated $150,000. They allow the Mission to operate very efficiently with administrative/fundraising costs of less than 6%.
