About Us:

Established in 1916

The PoCo Muse (Porter County Museum) engages the past with the evolving present to educate, enrich, and inspire our communities. The museum features permanent and featured exhibits, and provides educational programs throughout the year. School groups, scout troops, and organizations come from all regions of the county to tour the PoCo Muse and learn about Porter County’s history.

Our local institution was founded when the Porter County Historical Society temporarily amassed artifacts to create a display for Indiana’s Centennial Celebration in September 1916. When some of the contributors did not want their objects back, the Porter County Museum’s permanent collection was born. Our unique assortment of artifacts stems from the hard work, determination, and perseverance of several generations of members and volunteers.
