Mission

The Port Townsend Film Institute is organized exclusively as a charitable and educational organization. Our mission is to:

* Organize and produce periodic film festivals that showcase independent films and filmmakers, and which provide access to such creative activity for the general public;
* Organize and conduct period classes and seminars which encourage amateur video and filmmakers to work with, and learn from, more experienced artists in their field of interest. This may include training in film theory, camera techniques, recording technology and sound and lighting systems;
* Sponsor and produce film symposiums featuring amateur filmmakers, with the emphasis on providing creative experience and promoting their films to the general public;
* Develop an archive of video and film of filmmakers from the Pacific Northwest of the United States. This may be achieved through both the acquisition of existing videos and films and the sponsoring/making of new films
