Allatoona Charities Inc. (ACI) was chartered in February 2004 as a non-profit charitable organization based in Acworth, Georgia. Although each member is a Mason, as an independent corporation, it is not under the control or supervision of any other Masonic Institution.
ACI has three goals: help the needy, assist other non-profit organizations in the local community and state, and to assist national charitable organizations as deemed appropriate by the membership.
As a rule, donations are not actively sought. On rare occasions, small-unsolicited donations are received from members and non-members to assist in our charitable and benevolent work. It is considered a privilege to work for the good of the community by promoting charitable acts and benevolence.
The vast majority of the income is derived by bona a fide fundraiser; the Annual Pioneer Days Festival; Arts & Crafts Show and Carnival. All the people working the Pioneer Days Festival are either ACI members or volunteers from the community and surrounding area, who generously donate their time and hard work –There are no paid members. Therefore, all monies; application fees, admissions and carnival go toward our charitable and benevolent work.
ACI host an annual Christmas Luncheon for approximately 125 senior citizens of the area. Food, entertainment, door prizes and individual presents are provided (most of it donated).
ACI also has provided Christmas presents each year for over 100 children and adults, our efforts are coordinated thru Advocates for Children and Tranquility House. In addition to these events and meeting the needs of every day life, such as rent, food, electricity, gas, prescription medicines, eyeglasses & etc. Also, 5 Scholarships for Cartersville high school students.
Following is an example of a family who was helped by ACI. A woman in Emerson, Georgia left her husband and six children; the man was temporarily out of work, were without electricity, natural gas, water or food - ACI was able to meet the family’s needs- the man broke down and cried when he learned that someone cared enough to help.
