Petrified Forest National Park attracts many researchers. Geologists study the multi-hued Chinle Formation. Over 13,000 years of human history and culture can be found at Petrified Forest National Park. From prehistoric peoples to early explorers, from the Civilian Conservation Corps to Historic Route 66, Biologists explore one of the best remnants of native Arizona grassland. Air quality is an ongoing study in the park. Discover your own passion at Petrified Forest, Petrified Forest National Park is one of several national park units that were preserved due to the Antiquities Act.

Petrified Forest National Park has many places significant to American history and culture. Some are buildings, such as Painted Desert Inn and Agate House, and some are landscapes, such as the Painted Desert and the Rainbow Forest.
