The mission of the Peter Yegen, Jr. Yellowstone County Museum is to collect, preserve, research, and interpret the natural history, history and diverse cultures of the Yellowstone Valley of Montana and the Northern Plains. We share this legacy through a full range of exhibits and educational programs for the enrichment of the cultural and intellectual life of our community.

Museum's Focus: Prehistory of the Plains/Montana through to the 1950's. Exhibits/Archives include materials specific to 10 Northern Plains Indian Tribes, western expansion, mining, cattle/sheep herding industries, transportation industries, military (1870-1950's), various medical fields, music, textiles, household goods and personal goods.
