Surf fishing is a popular activity and welcomes anglers of all skill levels. Boardwalks from the parking lot allow visitors to access the beach without causing damage to the fragile dunes and beach vegetation. Covered picnic tables overlooking the beach provide a great place for family outings.

The park is home to several threatened and endangered species, such as the Perdido Key Beach Mouse, nesting shorebirds and nesting sea turtles.

Experiences

Birding
Several species of sea birds, shore birds and migratory birds may be viewed at the park.

Fishing
Surf fishing is a popular activity at the park.  Visitors commonly catch redfish, pompano, whiting, flounder, and several other species.

All fishing within the park must conform to regulations concerning size, number, method of capture and season.  A fishing license may be required.  More information is available at the Florida Wildlife Commission’s Fishing in Florida.
Shelling
Shelling is a popular activity at the park during the winter months.  Visitors often find calico clams, cockles, and many other species of shells.  Live shelling is prohibited in all Florida State Parks.

Surfing
Surfing is a popular activity at the park, especially during the winter months.  Surfing is at your own risk. There are no life guards on duty at the park.

Swimming
Swimming is a popular activity at the park.  Swimming is available in the Gulf of Mexico, at your own risk as there are no life guards at the park.

Amenities

Beaches
The park offers just under two miles of white sand beaches on the Gulf of Mexico.

Visitors to coastal parks are reminded to pay close attention to the Warning Flag Signs posted at welcome stations and on the beaches. These flags indicate the swimming conditions at the beach. Double red flags mean absolutely no swimming because of high winds and undertow currents; yellow means swim with caution and stay close to shore; green means that the waters are safe; purple means that marine pests are present.
Please use caution! Lifeguards are not provided.

Picnic Pavilion
Eight covered picnic shelters are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the park.

Shower Station
Outdoor open cold-water showers are available at both of the park's use areas for visitors.
