Mission:

People's Theatre, Inc. celebrates the diversity of our communities through community service and quality theatre. We are dedicated to providing a multicultural approach to the artistic and social needs of today. Our aim is to provide a vehicle for community growth, to establish motivational programs, and to emphasize positive choices.

History:

Founded in June of 1999, People's Theatre, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to community service through the arts. Our quality theatrical season is used to enlighten audiences and provide funds for community service. Our mission is to provide a vehicle for community growth and to establish motivational programs, emphasizing positive choices through theatre.

People's Theatre completed its first season with five productions. We produced our first show with four performances. The response was overwhelming as every performance was sold out one week before curtain. Our second season also ended with five productions. Each production carried a message about humanity. The plays were meticulously selected for an impact that will exceed an expectation of quality entertainment. We were successful in exposure of several cultures through theatre. Those included the Deaf, Caribbean, and Russian cultures. As we moved through our third season, the African American and Yuroba cultures were highlighted. We also established an official ticket outlet, website, and new board of directors.

Four community service programs are successfully operating and are widely supported by the community. Partnering with the City of Orlando Community and Youth Department, the Spot Light Workshops kicked off in January of 2000. Spot Light consists of monthly interactive workshops to aid in the personal development of our youth. Topics range from vocal/drama games to self-esteem and etiquette. Participation has been high, especially with ages 9 to 14. The hands-on interaction with each workshop is noted as one of the highlights of the program. This season we have greatly increased the number of workshops to include youth from many civil organizations and schools. We have also added youth acting classes to develop our youth even further.
