Play 18-holes of golf, paddle or troll on Palisade Reservoir, then set up the perfect campsite. This park offers something for everyone, from its desert canyon golf course, RV and tent camping, to access for off-highway vehicle riding in nearby Six-Mile Canyon.

CAMPING

Individual campsite reservations can be made a minimum of two days in advance of arrival date and up to 4 months in advance. Group use reservations may be made up to 11 months in advance.

We have sites that have full hook ups and sites without hook ups. Each site has a picnic table, a fire ring and a grill. Firewood is available for $5/bundle. Each site also has a place to set up a tent and a place to set up your camp trailer.

If you don’t want to rough it in a tent or camp trailer, we also rent Cabins. We have 6 Cabins, 3 with Full Amenities 3 with Basic Amenities. New in 2019 we will be adding 3 more Basic Amenity cabins that will be closer to the lake. Our Full Amenities cabins have sleeping for up to 8 people with a heater/air conditioning unit and light and power. They also have a restroom with showers and toilet inside the cabin. Our Basic Amenities also sleep up to 8 people with a heater/ air conditioning unit with lights and power (no water). There are restrooms a short walk away.

We also rent Tent Cabins. The tents have a queen bed with a full trundle that slides underneath and a full size futon. Each cabin has a table and chairs and either a wooden or cement floor. There is no electricity in the tent cabins, so plan ahead, but please no propane lanterns. For both our Cabins and Tent Cabins you will need to bring your own linens or sleeping bags. Also we do not allow pets of any kind in or around the Cabins or Tent Cabins. If you bring a pet you will have to find somewhere else for it to stay.

GOLFING

The golf course measures 6,360 yards from the back tee markers but plays longer because all the par-5s play uphill. However, the golf course will challenge even the most advanced player because of the difficulties encountered around the greens. The mountain layout has an elevation change of 230 feet from 5885 feet at the base to 6115 at the top.

Though its expansive undulating greens are truly a test, the greatest challenge may be signature hole number 4. This 179-yard par-3 has an elevation drop of 70 feet and requires golfers to carry the ball over a canyon, and land it precisely on the green. A ball hit too long will hit into the mountain behind the green and ricochet anywhere. On the other hand, a ball hit too short will certainly come to rest in the canyon below. The Salt Lake Tribune has likened this hole to the famous 12th at Augusta National and the Deseret News had it on its “Best Holes” list for 2005.

Clubhouse amenities include golf shop, restaurant, club rental, clothing, equipment and accessories, food and beverages, private and group lessons, driving range, and cart rental. Tee times may be made seven days in advance.

Views and vistas of the natural surroundings are stunning. Many golfers use their cameras as much as their clubs. In addition to golf, Palisade State Park offers boating, camping, fishing, hiking, off-highway vehicle access, and a variety of other activities.

FISHING

Fishing is great at Palisade State Park.  Either from the shore or from a boat it doesn’t matter. Remember, only electric motors are allowed on the lake.

There are mainly 3 types of fish that you will catch in Palisade Reservoir.  They are the Rainbow Trout, Tiger Trout and a very few Cutthroat Trout.  We also have a few Gold fish that have been put into the reservoir. Here are some pictures and an explanation of each fish.  The limit of fish you are able to take from Palisade Reservoir is 4 trout.

HIKING

There are many opportunities for hiking around the campground and also around the area.

There is a great trail that travels around the west side of the reservoir and continues over the dam and around through the campground loop.  It is just over one and a half miles to do the whole loop.  There are also some trails that take you higher on the hillside west of the lake.  Once you get up top you have great views of the valley and farmland down below.  This trail is a great way to see the beautiful area and to get some exercise in for the day.
