The Oconee County School System believes:

That public education is the shared responsibility of parents, teachers, staff, students, community and government;

In the uniqueness and worth of each student;

That all students can learn;

In the inherent right of every student to have a dream, a vision, and hope;

That learning is a lifelong process that occurs in a variety of environments;

In a balanced program of curricular and co-curricular activities designed to prepare students for the responsibilities of the future;

That instruction and learning should focus on the application of skills and knowledge;
That teaching strategies must meet individual needs of students;

That a positive school climate and shared decision making foster cooperation, encourage participation,and promote learning;

That safe schools are necessary for learning to take place;

That all school personnel should model responsible citizenship;

That every student will have the opportunity to experience success every day;
That open, honest communication builds trust; and,

That professional growth by school personnel is essential for student success
