History
Northtown's first Chicago Public Library branch opened in 1939.
Between 1962 and 2019, the library was located in a small facility at 6435 N. California Avenue.
A new branch, designed by the architectural firm of Perkins+Will, opened March 5, 2019. It is part of an innovative partnership between CPL and the Chicago Housing Authority to co-locate housing with library services.
