Northern Neck Audubon Society

Kilmarnock, VA 22482

The Northern Neck of Virginia, located between the Potomac River to the north  and the Rappahannock River to the south, is home to some truly great birding.

Because of its proximity to the Chesapeake Bay, its large expanses of undeveloped land and wetlands, and the passion of the local community  to protect and preserve its natural treasures, the four counties of the Northern Neck are a haven for over 250 species of birds.

The habitats of this area vary widely, from farmlands to high river bluffs, from  beachfront to river marshes. Many migrants pass through the area in the spring or the fall, and they can be seen in the right places.

The Northern Neck Chapter of the National Audubon Society (NNAS) holds monthly meetings in Kilmarnock, VA on the first Monday of October thru December and February thru June. The meetings feature speakers who are experts on some aspect of birds or other related animal species. Please join us at an upcoming NNAS meeting.
