The Newport - Cocke County Museum is located in the Newport Community Center on Highway 321, just five minutes from the 435 Exit of Interstate 40. Founded by the William Cocke Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, the project was spearheaded by Tennessee State Historian Wilma Dykeman.

The Museum, which opened in 1980, reflects the rich local history and heritage that is Cocke County. It houses a permanent collection of antiques and artifacts, many of which are displayed in three period rooms: a Victorian Parlor, Early Bedroom, and Pioneer Kitchen
