Our Mission:
The My True Colors Festival’s mission is to fight for social justice and to promote cultural diversity through the arts by promoting works by and for LGBTQIA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, intersex and asexual) individuals and persons of color. Our mission is actualized by presenting works that explore social issues, encourage dialogue, and reflect the whole spectrum of multicultural LGBTQIA+ lives through Theatre, Film, Original Web Series, Visual Arts, & Live Stream Internet. The My True Colors Festival is a conduit for bringing new LGBTQIA+ talent to the forefront from behind the scenes and to connect with entertainment industry insiders.
Our Vision:
The My True Colors Festival is dedicated to bringing together innovative transmedia storytellers and is fully committed to building a bridge between both domestic and international LGBTQIA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, intersex and asexual) communities as well as LGBTQIA+ Allies as part of our goal to break through closet doors and demolish divisive concrete walls around the globe. LGBTQIA+ persons continue to struggle as Americans to fully participate in society. For instance, in all 50 states, individuals can legally marry their same-sex partner on Sunday and then legally be fired from their jobs on Monday simply for exercising that right. In the U.S. it is still legal in 29 states to fire, refuse housing, or deny services to Americans because of their sexual-orientation or gender identity. LGBTQIA+ individuals and families report harassment—even violence oftentimes—and discrimination in the workplace in addition to when seeking goods and services in their neighborhoods. The endgame is for the My True Colors Festival to become one of the largest gatherings of entertainment and arts enthusiasts, drawing thousands of live and virtual attendees worldwide.
