Mission:

The mission of the Museum of Discovery and Science is to provide experiential pathways to lifelong learning in science for children and adults through exhibits, programs and films.

The museum features 85,000 square feet of interactive hands-on exhibits. You can also see the world's largest living captive Atlantic coral reef on public display. The museum is also home to the Blockbuster IMAX Theater.

The 300-seat Blockbusterâ„¢ IMAXâ„¢ Theater located in downtown Ft Lauderdale features a 60-ft. x 80-ft. screen and a 15,000-watt digital sound system that delivers six discrete channels of clear sound through 42 speakers. The IMAXâ„¢ projector's 15,000-watt Xenon bulb projects images of unsurpassed brilliance and clarity onto the five-story-high screen. The steeply sloped cinema seats bring the audience closer to the screen, so that the size of the image dominates your peripheral vision.

The result is a "virtual reality"-like experience which immerses the audience in the film. 3D films are viewed using electronic liquid crystal headsets. The IMAXâ„¢ experience is truly an unparalleled fusion of sight and sound.
