At the Mendocino Music Festival classical and contemporary music is played LIVE by highest quality musicians who come to perform in the incomparable Mendocino, California, famous for its flourishing culture within its setting of wild natural beauty.
The Festival Tent, an ephemeral white canvas crowned with flags flying is raised every year in July. Between the very bluff of the ocean and Main Street it nestles within the charming little Victorian village. It can house a full symphony and seat more than 840 music lovers while being seen and admired from miles around. Since 1987, its principal conductor is Maestro Allan Pollack.
Evenings in the Festival Tent include breathtaking concerts featuring the glorious Festival Orchestra, the popular Big Band concert featuring guest singers, chamber music ensembles, blues, jazz, world, folk, and popular contemporary music.
Days include lecture/recitals at the Piano Series, performances from the young, outstanding emerging artists, and chamber concerts at beautiful, intimate venues throughout Mendocino Village.
