About Us :

The Meigs County Museum, owned and operated by the Meigs County Historical Society, houses a large collection of early Meigs County artifacts and archives. The various displays and exhibits throughout the museum give insight into early Meigs County life. The Meigs County Historical Society library, as well as the Meigs County Genealogical Society library are also in the museum.

  • Collects, protects and exhibits the material culture of Meigs County.
  • Educates the public about the history of Meigs County through exhibits, special programs, tours and events.
  • Works with county schools to provide hands-on programming that meets ODE state curriculum standards.
  • Houses the Society's library as well as the library for the Meigs County Genealogcial Society.
  • Publishes histories, genealogical research and other books of local and regional historical interest.
  • Conducts family history workshops and provides genealogical research assistance.
  • Provides assistance with historical projects and research.

Works closely with The University of Rio Grande, Ohio University, Ohio History Connections, the Ohio Historic Preservation Office and other organizations on historical projects.
