About:
Called “the Festival to Watch” by Chamber Music America, Meadowlark Music Festival was founded in 2001 by Dr. Ann Chang, Artistic Director at the Lied Center for Performing Arts and Artist in Residence as well as Director of the Art’s Entrepreneurship Program at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. With the assistance of current Board of Directors President – Tari Hendrickson, Executive Director - Hans Sturm, an active and working Board of Directors, and widespread community and foundation support, Meadowlark is now working on its 14th year of classical music performances.
A 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization, Meadowlark’s mission is to make classical music a necessary component of every Nebraskan’s definition of “The Good Life”. We do this by presenting first-rate chamber music in comfortable and interesting venues and at a fraction of the cost of larger organizations. Children under 16 are always admitted free to our Lincoln area concerts as part of our commitment to families. We hope that “musical memories” will be made at each of our concerts!
Nebraska’s sole international summer chamber music festival, Meadowlark hopes to expose as many people from different races, ages, economic statuses, and educational levels to chamber music. We have a subsidized ticket program to enable lower income families to attend our regular concerts. Meadowlark Musicians perform free at schools and cultural centers throughout the community, and neighbors and businesses are invited to attend. Our educational offerings extend to free demonstrations and master classes for elementary, secondary school, and college students as well as free guest lectures for families.
