Mares memorial Library, also know as Dickinson Public Library, was incorporated as a non-profit public library in 1967. Although the library attempts to service all patrons, the primary service populations are the residents of Dickinson, Bacliff, and San Leon. The library also provides full services to residents Galveston County. The library is a member of the Galveston County library system and the Houston Area Library System. Mares memorial Library provides materials and services to help its patrons obtain information for personal, recreational, and educational needs. To carry out this mission, the library provides information for a wide variety of cultures, religions, interest levels, political backgrounds, and viewpoints.
