Liberty Mountain Resort

78 Country Club Trail
Carroll Valley, PA 17320

Liberty Mountain and Carroll Valley golf course were originally developed in the mid 1960's as a focal point for a major real estate development. The name of the ski mountain and the development was Charnita, named after Charles and Anita Rist, the developer and his wife. Charlie Rist brought in a gentleman named Dick Brown to develop and manage the ski area. Dick Brown had just designed Ski Roundtop the year before. It would only be about ten years later that the Charnita development suffered unfortunate bankruptcy, and Ski Roundtop's owner Snow Time, Inc. would purchase the ski mountain and rename it Ski Liberty. The golf course and cluhouse was sold separately. In the late '90s, Ski Liberty was renamed Liberty Mountain Resort to be more enticing to snowboarders and to address the resort's growing focus on wedding, banquet and conference business. In 2003, Boulder Ridge Snow Tubing was added to the growing list of resort amenities. In May of 2010, Liberty Mountain purchased the golf course, clubhouse and additional facilities, bringing the resort back to it's four season vision.

The resort is owned by Snow Time, Inc. which also owns two other area winter sport resorts, Whitetail Ski Resort and Ski Roundtop. The three resorts offer many season pass options and the popular Advantage Cards that are good at any of the three resorts. The three resorts are all within easy day-trip driving distance of the Washington DC/Baltimore areas.
