This group began as the New County Players in 1991 under the enthusiastic leadership of the local Episcopalian priest and former actor, Dexter Parish, ably assisted by his wife Darlene. The first play, The Nut Family (no, we're not making that up), fortunately never saw opening night, but the second endeavor, Come Blow Your Horn, was presented in the Episcopal Church Fellowship Hall in June of 1991. Featuring Marilyn Beech, Larry Beeman, John Callaghan, Charlene Gibney, Joe Kotula, and Melody Munro-Wolfe, this play and its cast and crew were the foundation of the New County Players. Deciding that we were no longer so "new", the group became the Lapeer Community Theatre in 1993.
